Dale Gigandet is the managing director and founder of Security Entry Consultants and a leading authority and industry advocate on security entry solutions and safe egress design strategies. For over 35 years he has worked in the security, fire, and life safety industry, in both the public and private sectors, and has an extensive background in design, construction, and technology.
An engineer by education and training, he began his career with the Department of Defense where he held top secret clearance and provided engineering, design and construction support services for hundreds of projects in support of our nation’s military infrastructure. Later he became the acting technical director for the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Massachusetts overseeing building and fire code development, licensing and approvals, enforcement and appeals hearings, and frequently lectured on codes, standards, and regulatory compliance.
He has chaired special task force committees for state and federal government agencies, been active in national codes and standards development, trained thousands of people from around the world in areas of business and technology, and has extensive experience working with different security, fire and life safety equipment manufacturers focusing on the use, application and development of products and solutions to solve complex problems in a constantly changing environment.
He has worked as an industry consultant providing design/build services, forensics/investigative services, expert testimony and litigation support, security and fire risk management, and project management and construction support. He is a skillful communicator and technology enthusiast, and is extremely passionate about helping others make informed decisions about technology and performance-based solutions for mitigating risks and safeguarding people, property, information and mission.
He is well versed in codes and regulatory compliance, design and construction, enterprise risk management, physical and cyber security convergence, all-hazard risk mitigation strategies, and emergency planning. He has championed 3rd party technology programs, architectural/engineering programs, created unique sales and business development tools, managed product portfolios and product roadmaps, spearheaded global and national sales and marketing campaigns, and developed technology alliances and partnerships around the world.
He has performed hundreds of site surveys and risk assessments in areas of security, fire and life safety culminating in engineering and design solutions to protect people, property, information and mission. He strongly believes that setting positive goals and objectives that are achievable, measurable, and align with the business mission is the first step in developing an efficient, sustainable and resilient enterprise security and risk management program.
